Wonders & Worries Program
When a parent or caregiver is diagnosed with a serious illness or suffers an injury, knowing how to help your children can feel overwhelming, intimidating and maybe even paralyzing. Balancing care and support for the sick parent while trying to maintain a normal routine is challenging. With the best of intentions, parents often withhold information for fear of creating more anxiety or because they are unsure of what to say or that they may say the wrong thing. As a child life specialist and Registered Wonders & Worries Provider (RWWP), Jenn has specialized training in how to navigate and break down conversations and education in a developmentally-appropriate and manageable way.
The Wonders & Worries program is a 6-session illness education and support curriculum that has been validated by a randomized clinical trial. Families who receive services through the Wonders & Worries model of support have consistently reported increased communication regarding the illness, decreased parenting stress, and decreased anxiety or nervous feelings for children and teens.
The Wonders & Worries program is for children ages 2 or older. For younger children, we offer parenting support to help caregivers navigate a diagnosis or injury.
WonderFund
Jenn is also a WonderFund Provider. WonderFund provides free services by a Registered Wonders & Worries Provider offering professional support for children and teenagers ages 2-18 through a parent’s serious illness or injury, so that they can reach their full potential.
