Where are you located?
Red Oaks Coping is located at 1604 W Pinhook Rd in Lafayette, LA in suite 162, first floor. We are a red brick building directly in front of the Fairfield by Marriot and next to Outback Steakhouse.
-
What are your hours?
I understand that families are busy. I will do my absolute best to accommodate and offer the most convenient time based on you and your child’s needs.
I am available on weekends as well if that is what works for you.
-
How long are sessions?
Sessions can last anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes depending on your child and family’s specific needs.
-
What payments do you accept?
I accept all major credit cards, check, Flexible Savings Accounts (FSA), Health Savings Accounts (HSA), Venmo, and cash.
Payments are due at the time of service.
-
Do you accept insurance?
I am out of network with all insurance companies. This means that the full fee is due at the time of service, but it also allows me to offer customized care without the limitations of insurance guidelines.
The good news is I can accept Flexible Savings Account (FSA) and Healthcare Savings Account (HSA) cards. I also offer a sliding-scale to help make these services more affordable.
A super bill, documentation from me with the necessary codes to submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement, is available with services provided to submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Please note that out-of-network coverage and reimbursement vary depending on your insurance provider, plan, and the specific services provided. I recommend checking with your provider in advance to determine your coverage options.

What is a sliding scale?
A sliding scale is a flexible pricing system where what you pay for my services varies based on specific criteria, often related to your ability to pay and/or your household income. My income brackets are:
A. below $25,000 a year - 40%
B. $25,001-$50,000 - 60%
C. $50,001-$75,000 - 80%
D. above $75,000 - 100%
For example, you have scheduled a medical play therapy session for your child which costs $100. Your household brings in $30,000 a year. So you would pay 60% which comes to $60 per session.
Please let me know if you are interested in a sliding scale, as I take a limited number of these clients.
-
What ages do you work with?
I work with clients from birth to 18 years of ages as well as their families.
-
How often do we need to meet?
Frequency of sessions are based on the individual needs of the child and family.
Some families feel more comfortable meeting weekly while others do better with monthly check-in sessions.
You have the freedom to work with me to make our time together look just how you’d like it.
Often, clients and families who are going through a more trauma life event need increased frequency while sometimes families just need support with a one-time medical procedure.
As we progress through our time together, we can adjust and adapt for best fit your needs.

What is Child Life?
Big picture:
Child Life focuses on promoting the normal growth and development of infants, children, and teens, during stressful or difficult life experiences.
“But…what IS it?”
We use developmental and family theory, education and play to teach and support families in crisis. Many of these times of crisis can take place within a medical setting. After assessing for individual needs and identifying strengths and current resources, we teach about the body, the mind, the situation, and appropriate coping skills.
I coach parents to support their children through hard things and to create plans for hard conversations.

We provide preparation, education, distraction, play, and coping tools, among many other benefits, to children and their families.
Prioritizing the coping and developmental needs of children and families, CCLSs promote and protect emotional safety in times of duress. What is the difference between child life services and child counseling?
Situations for Child Life Services
Child Life services are best suited for scenarios when your child needs support for an identifiable event or situation. These events can range from acute like a dental procedure or new diagnosis in the family to more long-term life grief after the death of a loved one, divorce, or dealing with a chronic illness. Child Life interventions are preventative in nature, and practicing specialists are focused on providing education and emotional support, as well as various therapeutic interventions, to support children who are experiencing something that can cause long-term psychological issues.
Situations for Child Counseling
Therapy is best suited for helping children and adolescents navigate emotional, behavioral, social, and mental health challenges. Counselors are able to tailor therapeutic interventions. They have a strong understanding of child development, use of creative therapeutic techniques and foster a safe and supportive environment. Counselors are qualified to provide therapy in a variety of forms, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or play therapy.
