Healing House is a leading grief support center in the Acadiana area. Healing House has support groups for children, ages 4-17, and young adults 18-30.

The mission of Maddie’s Footprints is to provide support to families coping with miscarriages, stillbirths or the loss of an infant.

Winston’s Wish is a charity that helps children, teenagers and young adults (up to the age of 25) find their feet when their worlds are turned upside down by grief.


The mission of Dougy Center is to provide grief support in a safe place where children, teens, young adults, and their families can share their experiences before and after a death. We provide support and training locally, nationally, and internationally to individuals and organizations seeking to assist children who are grieving.

If you are supporting a child who is grieving, we are here to connect you to resources and local support. The alliance is a national organization of professionals dedicated to supporting children and the networks and communities surrounding them.

The RescYOU Group is a nonprofit organization that assists families who suffer the loss of a child from 1 year old to 18 years old. We provide financial support and bereavement assistance.

While adults understand the permanence of death rather quickly, children often need more time. Feelings of grief come and go. Parents and providers can help kids by talking about big feelings, comforting, and getting back to play.
